Carolyn F. (McRoy) Colwell, 71, of Lake Rd, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Harrington Memorial Hospital. She leaves her husband of 46 years, Charles F. Colwell; one son, Brock C. Colwell and his wife Jill of Sturbridge; one daughter, Lucy F. Synder and her husband Kevin of Warren; one brother James McRoy of Southbridge; four sisters, Barbara Gelinas of Warren, Faye Tetreault of Florida, Lorna Bernier of Southbridge and Lois Prince of Amherst, VA; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Southbridge daughter of the late James B. and Ruth E. (Fay) McRoy and lived there before moving to Sturbridge in 1963. She was a 1956 graduate of the former Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge and the David Hale Fanning School in Worcester. Mrs. Colwell worked for 35 years at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge as a Licensed Practical Nurse before retiring in 1993. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sturbridge and enjoyed camping, music, her time on the lake and especially her grandson Abram. A Funeral Service for Carolyn will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 6 to 7 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in North Cemetery in Sturbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 1101, Sturbridge, MA 01566.
