VETERAN NEWSPAPER EDITOR PASSES AWAY
Dresden, Tenn., Oct. 31 --- (Special.) --- F. M. Holbrook, aged 71 years, died at an early hour this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. D. Gibbs, in Dresden, following a brief illness. Mr. Holbrook was one of the oldest and best known newspaper men in the South, having entered the newspaper business at Trenton [Tennessee] just after the Civil War, in which he served four years, being wounded three times, one of these wounds giving him trouble until his death. He was the father of Joe L. Holbrook, editor and owner of the Dresden Enterprise. The remains were interred this afternoon at the Dresden cemetery by his comrades in gray. ~~~ AMERICUS TIMES RECORDER, Americus, GA, Nov. 1, 1913, page 5
