As a WWII Army Veteran he obtained an American Campaign Medal, a WWII Victory Medal, E.T.O and C.R. Medals. He was also a retired Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. Alfred was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who had a good sense of humor and loved telling jokes.
He is survived by his wife Frances O. Sandoval of Roy; sons John Wesley Hanson of Roy and Francis Leon Hanson of Roy; sisters Frances Romero of Pueblo, Colo., and Faye Lucero of Pueblo; brother Albino Beltran and wife Jean of Albuquerque; grandchildren Adam Hanson of Rio Rancho, Mariah Hanson of Rio Rancho, Bobby Hanson and wife Karen of Rio Rancho and Leslie Hanson of Pueblo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will take place Monday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Parish in Roy. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will take place Tuesday, May 5, at the Holy Family Parish at 10 a.m. with Father Stephen Imbarrato as the celebrant. Rite of committal and interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
Funeral arrangements for Alfred Sandoval are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
