William H. Avery, 57, 510 East 9th, died Monday (October 30, 1978) at Hutchinson Hospital, following a short illness. Born Jan. 17, 1921, at Hutchinson, he married May Belle Schrock May 5, 1948, in Hutchinson. He was a lifetime Hutchinson resident and retired in 1976 from Cargill Salt Co.

He was a retired supervisor of the First Church of God and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors: widow of the home; sons: John, Tigard, Ore.; Roger, of the home; daughters: Mrs. Judy Rolf, Tigard; Mrs. Marcia Haskin, 2008 East 35th; Mrs. Patricia Brewer, 820 Keast; Mrs. Rebecca Newton, Portland, Ore.; mother: Mrs. Anna Haines, 716 East C; brothers: Henry Avery, Clarks Grove, Minn.; Emmett Avery, Geneseo; Marion Avery, RFD 4; sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Southards, 1009 East 10th; Mrs. June Crabbs, 716 East C; Mrs. Doris Swenson, 317 East 8th; Mrs. Donna Caldwell, Nickerson; 10 grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests memorials to the church.
