Carrie Virginia Brock, 91, of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Stanardsville, Virginia, on April 23, 1918, to the late John and Sallie Brock. One grandson, Carl "June" Brock Jr. three brothers, Tyler, Willie and Russell Brock; and one sister, Nettie Brock, preceded her in death.

She received her formal education in the Greene County School System. She worked as a Cook at the former Arthur's Grill that was located in the old Downtown Charlottesville. In later years she began private house-keeping and worked in the profession until her retirement. At an early age she joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Stanardsville. In adulthood she became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and in later years reaffiliated with Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a member of the King David Lodge, Order of Eastern Star.

Her survivors include her devoted son, Carl Brock Sr. and his wife, Addie, of Charlottesville; two grand-children, Lisa Brock and Clarence Brock of Charlottesville, Virginia; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held Monday, May 4, 2009, at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harrison Williams officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
