Nancy B. Blue, 76, of Laurel passed away Friday, June 6 at South Central Regional Medical Center. She was born to Reuben Carley and Nancy Elizabeth Buckalew on April 16, 1938. She was a graduate of Ellisville High School and worked as a telephone operator at Bell South for 32 years. Ms. Blue was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her quick whit and sense of humor always kept everyone laughing. She was a joy to be around and a rock for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Nancy Buckalew; her husband Kenneth Blue; and siblings Ralph Buckalew, Bethel Gainey, Violet Shows, Louise Waltman, Jesse Buckalew, Nellene Gainey, Annie Lou Hamilton and Russell Buckalew. She is survived by one sister Netta Hoover of Ellisville; one brother Tillis Buckalew of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three daughters Patsy Reon (Mike), Kameye Smith (Ralph, Jr.) and Shirley Sellers (Donald) all of Laurel; one grandson Jarrod Hankins (Cassidi) of Laurel; four step-grandchildren Becky Dailey (Chris) of Columbus, Ga., Kelsey Burtchaell (John) of Nashville, Tenn., Ralph Smith III (Josie) of Laurel and Cara Arender (Jon) of Enterprise; five step-great grandchildren Taylor, Lindsey, Jack, Dakota and Cheyenne; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Monday at 10 a.m. at Memory Chapel with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Dr. Dave Moran will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Memory Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jarrod Hankins, Ceiborn Gainey, Robert Gainey, Monte Buckalew, Brad Thompson and John Thompson. Memory Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
