Sarah Elizabeth (Earp) Amey 1854-1926

Sarah Elizabeth Earp was born October 1, 1854 in Bald Bluff, Henderson county, Illinois to Josiah Jackson Earp and Elizabeth Jane (Allen) Earp.

Her twelve siblings include; Francis M. Earp, Louisa Ann (Earp) Staley, Nicholas R. Earp, Jonathan D. Earp, Epheline (Earp) Calder Bell, Josephine Elizabeth (Earp) Clark, Alfred Levi Earp, Walter Cooksey Earp, Mary Matilda (Earp) White, George Ellsworth Earp, Charles Henesman Earp and Edgar Oliver Earp.

Sarah married James Silas Amey on January 4, 1882 in Anthony, Harper county, Kansas. He was the son of Joseph Amey and Elizabeth (Clark) Amey.

They became the parents to three children; Francis Clyde Amey, Joseph Roscoe Amey and Forrest Dell Amey.

With their eldest son, Francis "Clyde", they came to Oregon with the rest of the Amey families, but returned to Illinois about 1896, then immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada. Two of their sons, Joseph Roscoe and Forrest, who were born in Joseph, Oregon, died prior to their return to Wallowa county.

Sarah and James lived in the town of Joseph until Sarah's death on May 12, 1926, when she died from acute bronchopneumonia.

Her funeral service was held on May 14, 1926 and she was laid to rest in the Prairie Creek Cemetery, outside the town of Joseph, in Wallowa county, Oregon.
