Fred A. Matzen The Sheboygan Press June 12, 1950

Fred A. Matzen, 85, a retired Calumet county farmer, died early today at St. Nicholas hospital. He had been in ill health for the past six days.

Born December 22, 1864, in the town of New Holstein, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Matzen he attended the rural schools and was married to Celia Boie on Nov. 26, 1892. The couple lived in New Holstein from 1911 to 1939. For the past 11 years Mr. Matzen made his home with a son, Arno on the homestead farm east of New Holstein.

Survivors are two sons, Ray of Milwaukee and Arno on the homestead, and four grandchildren. His wife died November 21, 1936, and one brother and a sister also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home. Burial will be in the New Holstein City Cemetery.
