Colorado Transcript (Golden, Colorado), October 25, 1906:
Gen. Wm. H. Bell, passed away at his home in Arvada, in this county, on Thursday last. Gen.Bell served in the commissary department of the regular army for many years, and was chief commissary of the department of Colorado when retired for age a few years since. Deceased was a most genial gentleman and made many friends in civil ranks of life while on duty in Colorado. During the last year of his service he made himself a pretty home near Arvada, where bis widow and family reside.

BRIG. GEN. W. H. BELL DEAD - Saw Service on Frontier, In Alaska And Civil War.

Denver, Co., Oct. 20 - Brig. Gen. William Hemphill Bell, U. S. A., retired, died at his home, at Arvada, near this city last night of pneumonia.

Gen. Bell was born at West Chester, Pa., in 1834.

He graduated from West Point in 1858. General Bell served through the Civil War, but the greater part of his military service was on the Western frontier and in Alaska, General Bell was retired in 1898.
