George Edwin Anderson of Spring, TX, age 82, went home to his Lord on September 16, 2007.

Preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Milton Anderson of Evergreen, TX; and sister, Juanita "Sis" Mathis of Houston, TX.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jean; three daughters, Karen Hewitt, Ronda Kuhlmann (Skip), Martha Baker (Randall); and one son, George, Jr. (Johanna); 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

After serving in the U S Army during World War II, George graduated from the University of Houston with a Civil Engineering Degree. For 30 years he worked for Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, retiring in 1986. A former member and Sunday School teacher at Reid Memorial Methodist Church; he also served in the Lindale Lions club. He was currently a member of Springwoods United Methodist Church. He served on the Spring I S D School Board for 10 years and had a school named in his honor - Anderson Elementary. He loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was active in baseball, softball and bowling, both as a participant and coach. Gardening and giving fresh vegetables to his friends was a favorite hobby of his. George never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his honesty and his love of education.

Special thanks go to his loving care givers- Florence, Janice, Terral, and Monique. A memorial service was held at Springwoods United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 19th at 10:30 a.m. with a graveside service at the Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen, TX that afternoon at 3:00 pm.
