Kathryn M. Bresch, 99, of Conestoga, died on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born June 11, 1909, in Conestoga, she was a daughter of the late William and Bessie (Brenberger) Smith. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Clement A. Bresch, who died in 1990.
Mrs. Bresch was a member of Conestoga United Methodist Church for 87 years, where she was very active in the church's ministries. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. Kathryn loved her family and grandchildren, and her hobbies included her flowers, reading, playing pinnacle, and crocheting. She also enjoyed visiting shut-ins, sending and saving cards, keeping news clippings, writing in her diary, and keeping everyone informed of the early days in Conestoga. .
Mrs. Bresch is survived by her two sons: Gerald W. husband of Georgia A. Bresch, of Conestoga, and Vincent C., husband of Jill K. Bresch, of Elizabethtown; a brother, Preston A. Smith, of Lancaster; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Conestoga United Methodist Church, 71 Sand Hill Road, Conestoga, with Rev. Richard E. Wilcock officiating. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Gundel Funeral Home, 3225 Main Street, Conestoga, and an hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Conestoga United Methodist Church, 71 Sand Hill Road, Conestoga, PA 17516.
