SERVICES SET FOR PIONEER RESIDENT
Funeral services for Shirley Shafer, 73, pioneer Wagoner resident, will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday in the Hersman Chapel. He died Sunday, April 3rd, in the Muskogee Veteran's Hospital of cancer.
Born near Wichita Falls, Texas, he came to Wagoner (Indian Territory) in 1904 and was an employee of Keener Oil & Gas Company as an oil pumper. He retired 8 years ago.
Shafer was a World War I veteran, a member of Hanes-Finley American Legion Post, a past member of Masonic Lodge No. 98 and a member of the Methodist Church.
Pastor A.K. Fleming officiated at the service. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Hersman Funeral Home of Wagoner, Oklahoma.
