He married Rosina Maxine Bailey on February 18, 1961, and together they had one daughter. Roy was a gentle man who always had a following of children they loved to follow grandpa, he was always tinkering with something and enjoyed all of their help. He passed away on April 24, 2009 just two days after his wife. In death as in life he was just one step behind her.
