Alva C. Bowers Rites Tuesday

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Seydler-Hill chapel for Alva Claude Bowers, who died at 6:10 p.m, Sunday.
The Rev. Victor Edge, pastor of the Radtside Baptist church and Rev. Claude F. O'Neall will officiate at the services with burial following in the Denton Creek cemetery.
Mr. Bowers was born in the Slayden community in Gonzales county on September 18, 1900, the son of Jim and Minnie White Bowers. A retired cattleman, he was married on December 22, 1921, to Mary Edith Adams, who preceded him in death on June 3, of this year.
He was a member of the Eastside Baptist church and served on the board of deacons.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Edna Marie) Ellison of Thomaston; Mrs. Kene (Barbara) Dreyer of Gonzales; one son, the Rev. Alva Earl Bowers of Austin; one siste, Mrs. Ella Nethery of Gonzales; three brothers, Ottie Bowers of Waller; Olan Bowers of Houston; Clifton Bowers of Round Rock; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one child who died in infancy.
