Linda L. (Fales) Carlton, 59, of Battle Creek went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 20, 1949 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Ora J. and Geraldine (Worthington) Fales. Linda was a 1967 graduate of Harper Creek High School. In 1969 she married Ray Douglas and that marriage ended in divorce. She later married the love of her life, David Carlton on October 25, 1980 and he preceded her in death on September 17, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her father. Linda had worked at Post Cereals, Peoples Savings and Loan, The American Cancer Society and did bookkeeping for various businesses in the area. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing, playing cards, reading and her pets. Linda is survived by her mother: Geraldine Fales of Battle Creek; four children: Ardith Carlton and Corky Visminas of Japan, Todd (Tamara) Carlton of Arlington, TX, and Shana (John) Huerta and Jennifer (Shawn) Coon both of Battle Creek; five grandchildren: Kay Carlton, Patricia and Lawrence Fenton, and Hunter and Cayleigh Coon; brother: Robert (Mary) Fales of Battle Creek; sister-in-law: Dode (Norm) VerMerris of Traverse City; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Kelly Hadlich officiating. Interment at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society.
