US Congressman. A 1776 graduate of Dartmouth College, he served as a major in the Revolutionary War. Having served in the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, he was elected as a Federalist to Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Samuel Lyman. Reelected, he served from 1801 to 1803. A general in the Massachusetts militia from 1799 to 1818, he retired from public life after becoming totally blind in 1818.
