COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Ernest L. Boney Jr., 82, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2001, in Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. J. Paul Poynor and Rev. H.R. Patteson. Interment will be in Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Blythewood. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, Buford Goff and Harris Hennessee. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. this evening at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. Mr. Boney died Friday, December 14, 2001. Born in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Ernest Leonard and Beulah Wooten Boney. Mr. Boney was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, serving as Moderator of the General Assembly. He taught the John Mark Sunday School Class, Senior High Fellowship Class and was chairman of various committees and Elder Emeritus. Mr. Boney was also involved in the Palmetto Presbytery in various capacities.
Survivng are his wife of 63 years Kathryn Beckham Boney of Columbia; sister Lida Boney Corley and husband Donald of Blythewood; sister-in-law Ruth Beckham Boney of Columbia; daughter Katherine Patricia (Patsy) Boney Farmer of Columbia; sons Ernest Stephen Boney and wife Karen Tibbit Boney of Amelia Island, Fla., Marc Leonard Boney and wife Jane Hutcherson Boney of Bartow, Fla.; grandchildren, Kathryn Sherrill (Sherri) Duke Duren and husband Tracy N. Duren, Henry (Hank) Lunsford Duke III and wife Jamie Gedding Duke, Ernest Harrison Duke, Ernest Bryan Boney and wife Tracy Bolton Boney, Stephen Patrick Boney, Kathryn (Kate) Miller Boney, Brittany Nicole Davis; great grandchildren, Ernest Evans Duren, Taylor Jameson Duren, Thomas Gordon Duren, John Spencer Duren, Harrison Brennan Duke, Colton Patrick Boney and Ethan Cain Boney.
