Judy (Dodson) Kucera, 65, of Penelope, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at her residence.

A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the Penelope Catholic Church of the Nativity, B.V.M. with the Rev. B. George as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Judy was born in Greenville, Texas, to Roy and Ivy Lou (Martin) Dodson. She graduated from Penelope High School in 1961, with the honor of being elected High School Queen. On May 26, 1962, she was united in marriage to Robert Kucera in Penelope. Judy worked as a bank teller for the Elm Mott Bank and Mt. Calm Independent Banks, Kucera Service Station in Penelope, Penelope Water Supply Corp., and Armstrong Jewelers in Waco. Judy enjoyed gardening, working on the computer, reading, working crossword puzzles, and caring for her nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to her as "Aunt Dot". She was a member of the Church of the Nativity, B.V.M., in Penelope.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, Roy Dodson.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 46 years, Robert J. Kucera, of Penelope; her mother, Ivy Lou Dodson, of Hewitt; brothers, Richard Dodson, of McKinney, and Jerrell Dodson, of Hitchcock; sister, Minnie Dodson, of Hewitt; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
