Donna Jean Morton, 57, of Winthrop, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, from injuries in an auto accident.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Clear Lake Baptist Church, Severance Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop; and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel of Winthrop; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Jr. and DeAnn of Ellsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Dalynn and Emory of Chanhassen and Deborah and Jonathon Nykanen of Eden Prairie; grandson, Dayne Linn Morton; brother, Robert Land of Mariposa, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Gary Tuton of Mullen, Neb., Joan Carr of Mullen, Neb. and Phyllis and Gary Schuster of Hershey, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Land.
She was born Aug. 31, 1943, in North Platte, Neb., to Robert Wakefield and Marie (Hogg) Land. She grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Hershey Public School in 1961. She graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Nursing in 1966. She worked for a short time at the University Hospital, Omaha. She married Dan Morton on Sept. 24, 1967, in Hershey. They lived in Minneapolis for a short time, and she worked at Hennepin County General Hospital. They returned to Nebraska to farm in 1971. They returned to Minnesota in 1972 and rented a farm between Winthrop and Gibbon. They bought a farm in Transit Township in 1973. She was a nurse at hospitals in New Ulm, Gaylord and Arlington before becoming Sibley County Public Health Nurse in 1978. She also served as the Arlington School Nurse, Early Childhood Screening coordinator, Inter Agency Intervention Team chair, environmental health, jail health and primary home care nurse for Arlington and Green Isle. She belonged to Clear Lake Baptist Church, was the church treasurer, in women's circle and the AWANA program. She helped found the Transit Trailblazers 4-H Club.
