ALTINE, Leah Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, Leah Sturcken Altine, beloved wife and partner of Michel Michael Altine, Sr. of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Michel M. Altine, Sr. are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, Friday, April 24, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be private. The family will receive friends at the residence, 1940 Capri Drive, this evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Mrs. Altine was born in Charleston, SC on Tuesday, March 31, 1936, the daughter of Baynard and Essie Ritter Sturcken .She graduated from Blessed Sacrament School, Bishop England High School and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Palmer Business College. Mi-Mi, as she was affectionately known, was a friend and mother to all she met and would put the needs of others first. She enjoyed making crafts, fishing, gardening and was a former member of the Jayceettes for many years.Mrs. Altine retired from the Charleston Naval Base, after thirty-three years of faithful service, as a Disbursing Officer. She and her husband, Mike, were the co-owners of the Marina Variety Store Restaurant and Salty Mike's, local favorites at the City Marina. Leah supported and participated in all of Big Mike's endeavors through fifty-three years of marriage. In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Michel Michael Altine, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; Christine Altine Stocker and her husband, Donald; Angela Altine Strickland and her husband, Bryan; as well as four grandchildren, Colin V. Altine, Donald G. Stocker, Jr., Amanda R. Strickland and Amber R. Strickland. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann Altine. The family requests memorial be made to Blessed Sacrament Church, Building Fund, 5 St. Teresa Dr., Charleston, SC 29407
