John Paul
Gary was raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma where he attended West Avenue Elementary, Chickasha Junior High School and Chickasha High School. He participated in several activities while in school from the singing choir to playing football. He attended college at Central University in Edmond, Oklahoma while working full time at General Electric.
Becoming restless and looking for higher goals he entered the army where he was a Green Beret. He was very proud of his accomplishments during his tour of duty.
Through a very good friend (Gary called John "my best paisano") he became interested in the oil business. He first worked in Houston, Texas before traveling abroad with his career. He worked in Maricibo, Venzuela, Dubai,, U.A.E., Singapore, Iran with his last stop in Queensland, Australia, where he was managing director of the Jaeger Oilfield Services.
During the time he lived in Houston he had the thrill of a lifetime, he got to play racquetball one time with the great Earl Campbell, although he lost he said it was a privilege and honor to play with him.
He, also, had the privilege of beating me several times on the tennis courts. He loved his family and friends and had a caring and kind personality.
Not only was he my handsome brother; he was also my best friend.
My brother died in Australia. I was present when they announced that he had passed away. There was a memorial service in Brisbane that was beautiful. At the same time in Chickasha, Oklahoma a service was held for Mother and the family as well as many friends.
He was cremated. I brought the ashes home and at his request his ashes were spread at his lake cabin at Lake Conroe in Montgomery County, Texas in late November 1982.
He is missed.
Thank you James Seidelman for the photo.
