ZACHARIAH EIKENBARY
Zachariah Eikenbary was the son of Samuel and Mary (Albaugh) Eikenbary. He was born 12/3/1827. Zachariah was named after his mother Mary's father, Zachariah Albaugh. Zachariah Albaugh presented Samuel and Mary with 95 acres of land "for love and affection" shortly after the birth of Zachariah Eikenbary in 1827.
Zachariah married Sarah Jane Honeyman on 3/4/1849. Sarah was the daughter of David & Isabella (Long) Honeyman.
TRADGEDY STRIKES
If the family lore is correct, when their oldest two kids were only about two and four years old and Sarah was expecting a third child, Zachariah accidentally drowned in the Wabash River on 6/5/1855. If the story is true, Zachariah might well have drowned on his own property in Union County, it was situated amid two large creeks.
Just three months after Zachariah's death, Sarah's mother, Isabella (Long) Honeyman, died on 9/11/1855. Isabella and Zachariah are buried next to each other in Silver Creek Cemetery in Liberty, Indiana.
ZACHARIAH & SARAH'S CHLIDREN All three were born in Liberty Township, Union County, Indiana.

On November 15, 1873, Sarah's father, David Honeyman, was listed as guardian of the three Eikenbary boys in the will reading for the estate of their grandfather, Samuel Eikenbary.
