"Mrs. Zora Elder, Mother of Local Residents, Dies--Funeral services were held at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen chapel in Macomb on Monday afternoon for Mrs. Zora B. Elder, 77 of Macomb, mother of W.V. Elder of this city and Irene Painter of Terra Haute.
Ill since early March, when she was hospitalized after suffering a stroke, Mrs. Elder had later been cared for in the Maplewood nursing home at Camp Point, where death came at 7:30 A.M. on Saturday June 15 1957.. The remains were taken to the beautiful little Woodland cemetery near Baylis in Pike county for burial.
Mrs. Elder , daughter of Volney and Susan Wilson Ornduff was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on Feb 3 1880 and had spent most of her life in the Baylis and Macomb vicinities. She was a member of the Eastern Star, DAR, VFW Auxiliary and the Women's Relief Corp.
Left to mourn her passing are her 7 children, Mrs Enis Kilgore of Monmouth, Mrs. Alberta Bushnell of Blandinsville, Mrs Carol Churchill of Colchester, Mrs. Irene Painter of Terre Haute, Mrs. Ann Finchum of Camp Point, Mrs. Ruth duke of Lima, and William V. Elder of La Harpe. Two brother and two sisters also survive. Her husband is deceased.
