Kenneth D. Capper, 65, of Ames, died April 6, 2006 at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born January 11, 1940 at Aurora to Orville Franklin and Viola Leona (Ming) Capper.

He graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1957. He married Mary Stolzenburg on August 19, 1962 in Clyde. She survives of the home. He managed the Ames Grain Elevator and Fertilizer Plant before managing the George W. Hayes Lumber yard of Clyde. He retired in January 2003. He was a former member of the United Brethren Church at Sulpher Spring. He also assisted with the formation of the Clyde Rural Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Ames; three sons, Kevin, of Manhattan, Keith, of Ames and DelRay; of Concordia; and one daughter Melinda Paul and husband Michael, of Salina; a sister-in-law, Norma Capper, Neosho, MO; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kalene, and Kendale Paul of Salina.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 10 at the United Methodist Church in Clyde, with Rev. Billy C. Hughes officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Ames.
