Carol Blasko of Mattituck, formerly of East Hampton and Sag Harbor, died on April 7 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 58. Born on Aug. 21, 1946, to William and Mildred (Schwarberg) Brewer in Jackson Heights, Queens, she grew up in East Hampton and Sag Harbor. She graduated from Pierson High School in 1964 and later from Mandell School for Dental Assistants. She worked for Dr. Russell Smyth of Sag Harbor and Dr. David Baker of East Hampton. In 1978 she moved to Mattituck and, until retiring this year, she had been employed as a teacher's assistant by BOCES in Westhampton. A member of Mattituck Presbyterian Church, Ms. Blasko was very active there, teaching Sunday school and contributing in many other ways, according to a family tribute. "She will be remembered as a caring and loving person," the family wrote. She is survived by a son, Erik Olson, and a daughter, Nancy Blasko, both of Mattituck; her mother, Mildred Coupe of Riverhead; a brother, Arthur Brewer of Cutchogue; and two sisters, Barbara Damiecki of Bridgehampton and Wendy Turbush of Aquebogue. Visitation was on April 8 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Mattituck. Services were held on April 9 at Mattituck Presbyterian Church, the Rev. George Gaffga officiating.
