Richard W. Spulick Sr. 77 of Vernon, formerly of Manchester, husband of the late Alice P. (Cuddy) Spulick, passed away Friday, December 23, 2005, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 15, 1928, in Suffield, son of the late William and Violet (Greenwood) Spulick, and had resided in Manchester for many years before moving to Vernon in 1979. Mr. Spulick was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement in 1991 he was employed for over 38 years as a welder for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford.
Mr. Spulick is survived by his three children; his sister, Irene Gionest; five brothers; his eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Spulick family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the John DeQuattro Community Cancer Center and the Visiting Nurse (North Central Hospice) for their care and compassion during Richard's illness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be private in East Cemetery, Manchester at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 27, 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
