SPANISH AMERICAN AND WORLD WAR I VETERAN

Thomas Banbury was the son of Thomas and Catherine (Brown) Banbury. He was born November 23, 1877 in Los Angeles, California. He stood five foot nine and one half inches tall and had a fair complexion.

MILITARY RECORD:
Spanish War: Enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 5, 1898 at Los Angeles. He was discharged there on December 2, 1898 with the rank of private. Pension certificate was C-16 510 865.

He had married Irene Hickey on April 17, 1940, in Seattle, Washington. The couple resided in Tacoma, Washington when they applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home in Retsil in 1955. Even though Mr. Banbury's $215.28 a month retired pay was considered in excess of the allowed amount, he was admitted based on having a dependent wife.

World War I: Enlisted 1918 in L.A. and retired with the rank of Captain at Fort Bliss, Texas on September 30, 1932.
He died at the Veterans' Home on November 16, 1957 at the age of 79 years. He was buried in the Home Cemetery.
