Bill was the fourth child (second son) of Oberlin and Sadie Loos. He was born at the family home near Deer Harbor and died in a newer home built on the same property.

Bill was the son who remained on the family homestead, taking over the farm after his father's death. Bill and his wife Winifred adopted and raised twin daughters. They also made a resort out of part of the property. "Maple Point" consisted of housekeeping cabins as well as sleeping cabins. Winifred served excellent meals in the Lodge. A crescent beach and dock completed the amenities--pretty rustic by today's standards, but it was usually booked full. After Bill's death, Winifred managed Maple Point for several years until the property was sold to Charles Clise. The Clise family still owns the place; another house has replaced the previous house.
