MEADE COUNTY MESSENGER OBITUARY
10/22/1980
Mr. James Lamar Allen, 55, years old of Payneville, KY, died Friday, October 17, 1980 at his residence. He was born in Meade County on February 13, 1925, a son of the late Paul Warren Allen and Mary Eleanor Arnold.

One daughter, Phyllis Allen, preceded her father in death in 1956.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Bennett Allen; seven children, Mrs. Doyle (Carolyn) Lundy, Brooks, KY; Mrs. George (Barbara) Dowell, Brandenburg, KY; Mrs. Willis (Trudy) Justis, Muldraugh, KY; Miss Brenda Allen, Payneville, KY; Mr. Robert Allen, Route 1, Vine Grove, KY; Mr. Rodney Allen, Battletown, KY; Mr. Bradley Allen, Payneville, KY; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by eight sisters; Mrs. Loretta Jupin, Brandenburg, KY; Mrs. Marie Hardesty, Battletown, KY; Mrs. Carlisle (Rena Lou) Humphrey, Battletown, KY; Mrs. Herbert (Bonnie Jean) Wardrip, Brandenburg, KY; Mrs. Irene Hockman, Brandenburg, KY; Mrs. Anna Rita Benham, Valley Station, KY; Mrs. Mitchell (Ruth) Humphrey, Battletown, KY; and two brothers, Mr. Alva Eugene Allen, Fairdale, KY and Mr. William Randolph Allen, Battletown, KY.

Prayers were recited by Father Regis Dowd at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, from the Chapel of Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 20th from St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father Regis Dowd officiating. Interment was in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery directed by Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
