Frederick Louis Bixby was the son of Russell Rock and Annis Elizabeth Smith Bixby, and the grandson of Simon and Phila Bixby. Frederick married Rhoda Adele Orgren in 1907. They had two daughters: Beatrice Bixby, who died as a baby in 1911, and Ruth Eleanor Bixby, born in 1912. After Rhoda's death, Fred remarried to Freda Metcalf in 1942. Fred was a well-known civil engineer and served as head of the civil engineering department at the University of Nevada-Reno for many years.
