Born March 25, 1909, in Cache, Okla., to Colonel E. and Anna Powely Cripe, she married Darrell Ayres on Feb. 23, 1930. He died July 31, 1977. One brother, one sister, one son and one daughter also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, James "Rod" of Alta and John "Jack" of Williamsfield; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Margie) Burger of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was a secretary in the special-education division for Peoria School District 150 for 19 years.
She was a member of Blue Ridge Methodist Church and its women's club. She was former state president of the Parent-Teacher Association and a member of the Peoria PTA. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Weber Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee Reed will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
