Mr. Ballard was born April 5, 1910 in Oregon, the son of William and Leanor (Williford) Ballard. He was a 1927 graduate of Mount Morris High School. He married Dorothy Norberg on Sept. 2, 1933, in Rockford. She died Aug. 1, 1988. He retired from Kable Printing Company in 1974 after 47 years, where he was a foreman in the pressroom. He was a member of the Mount Morris Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn (Vernon) Shinall of Fort Lee, N.J., Sharon Wieland of Jenison, Mich., and Connie (Thomas) Darnell of Orange Park, Fla.; and two sisters, Ada Diehl and Ruby Kretsinger, both of Mount Morris; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
