Elmer R. Boese, 54, of Alexander, died Tuesday at the Ness County Hospital, after a short illness. Born Aug. 26, 1912 at Bison, he married Ethel Wallace June 26, 1937 at La Crosse. He moved to and lived there all his life. He worked at the Gano Elvator.
He was a member of the VFW, LaCrosse, and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by the widow; sons, Roger, Concord, California, and Wayne, Simla, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Wittman, Alexander, Kansas; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Boese, Alexander; step-sons, Henry Swartz, Alexander, and Bert Swartz, Wyoming, Minn., step-daughter, Mrs. Glenn Scheuerman, Ellinwood, and Mrs. Gerald Stegman, Hutchinson; brothers, Vernon, Burdett, Robert of Alexander, and Wilbert, Hoisington; sisters, Mrs. Ray Ellis, Mrs. Leonard Ellis, both of Burdett; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the EUB Church, Alexander, with the Rev. James Stewart officiating. Burials will be in Alexander City Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion and the VFW.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Grumbein, Ernest Lyda, Raymond Frank, Woodrow Yost, Cecil Coddington and Clayton Williams.
Honorary bearers will be veterans of the VFW of La Crosse.
Organist will be Mrs. Lon Wells Jr. The Mens Quartet of the EUB Church will sing. They are Messrs, Leonard Young, Fred George, Cecil Lappin and Harry Yost.
