Wife of Hugh Nation, Jr.
On April 22, 2003, our beloved mother and grandmother, Norma Eloise Hawkins Nation, passed away from causes incident to old age. Mom was 87 years old.
Mom, the daughter of Thomas Ernest Hawkins and Myrtle Ophelia Sherrill, was born on April 16,
1916 at her parents house in Salt Lake City, Utah.
On August 25, 1939, following graduation from East High School and the Salt Lake Business College, Mom married our dad, Hugh Nation, Jr. Together they raised two sons, Kenneth H. Nation and Gale H. Nation.
Mom excelled in parenting and homemaking. She loved gardening and participating in her Hawaiian Dancing Group. She enjoyed senior road trips to Nevada gaming spots. She looked forward to family camping trips and being with her children and grandchildren. She was active in various political campaigns and civic affairs such as The Utah Utilities Coalition.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Sadie and Marie; and brothers Melvin and Sherrill. Mom is survived by her two brothers Thomas and Floyd Hawkins; her two sons and their spouses; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of the wonderful and skilled medical staff who have worked so diligently with our mother during her long illness. Thank you! In lieu of flowers give contributions to American Lung Association.
Mom's viewing is scheduled at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 1 p.m. The viewing will be followed by a graveside service at 2:15 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
