Mrs. Andrew Friedley
Some of our readers will be interested in the following, as the subject of this sketch was one of the earlier residents of Naperville. The notice is taken from the Lockport Advertiser, Oct. 5th.
Mrs. Augusta Wilhelmina Friedley was born in Holstein, Germany, Feb. 8, 1828. She departed this life on Thursday evening, Sept. 26th, 1889, at 7 o'clock, at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 18 days.
Mrs. Friedley was a woman of many sterling qualities, active in the duty of life and always ready and willing to do her share of a charitable and noble work.
Deceased came to this country when quite young and has resided in Lemont and vicinity for forty years. The cause of Mrs. Friedley's death is of a sad nature and one which shows the character of her devotion to those who were near and dear to her. Her husband was drowned some eleven months ago, and Mrs. Friedley bore up bravely under this terrible calamity though her health and strength began to fail her from that hour and the continued grief of her great loss never ceased until the day she breather her last. Three sons and three daughters remain to mourn her loss, who are all grown up and married with the exception of one son who resides here and is one of the two connected with the hardware store. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the M. E. church, Rev. Warrington officiating. A large concourse of people followed the remains to their last resting place. Relatives and friends were present from Chicago, Wisconsin, Missouri and Minnesota.
