Eleanore C. (Matlak) Bersano, age 87. Passed away suddenly, Sunday, February 8, 2009 at her home.

Eleanore was born March 22, 1921, in Joliet to the late Stephen and Katherine (nee Cernansky) Matlak, she was a lifetime resident.

She was united in marriage on August 23, 1947 to Donald D. Bersano at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Joliet.

Loving mother of Kathleen (Robert) Delach of Joliet, Kenneth (Jacquelyn) of Minooka and Donald C. (Lisa) of Shorewood. Devoted grandmother of Brian Delach, Ashley (O.J.) Lopez and Alexis Delach; Jason (Jill), Jeremy, Christopher (Katie), Julianne and Rebecca Bersano; Justin, Megan and Brittany Bersano. Proud great-grandmother of Kaylie Bersano. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marie Klimek and Peggy Matlak as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald D. (January 19, 2009); her parents; one sister, Mary Ann (late Seraphin) Krnac; four brothers, Joseph in infancy, Andrew (late Emma "Toots"), Stephen and George Matlak.

Eleanore was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, flower arranging and decorating for the Christmas season. She also gave of her time assisting the Mantellate Sisters in making rosary beads at the Marian Lake Retreat. Her greatest passion however, was spending time with her family.

She was a greeter and active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, having been involved with the CCW, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Young at Heart Club and the Parents Association. In addition, she was a member of the Young People's Club at the Church of St. Anthony.

Funeral Services for Eleanore C. Bersano will be Friday, February 13, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. In lieu of flowers, Masses would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday, February 12, 2009, 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. at:
