Sarah Leona Hamill was born in Tennessee to Ephraim John. & Mary Jane Hamill Aug. 13, 1878. She later moved to Kansas where she met Homer W. Russell. Leona and Homer Russell were married Dec. 26th., 1900 in Wilson County, Kansas. 6 Children were born to this Union. Nellie Bernetta, Mary E., Susie Elizabeth,Argyle D., Joesph P. & Daisy Arlene. Leona was a home maker. They farmed in an area called Pleasant Valley [Township] between Altoona and Chanute. In 1945 they moved to the Topnish, Washington area where they had other family members living at the time & lived there the rest of their lives.
