I remember as a kid; being the baby girl of the family, Kathy being the oldest girl, she would take me to work with her when she had a job as a laundromat attendant back in 1969-70. I always wanted to be with my big sister, and she knew that, so she would let me go with her to most places she went. At the laundromat, she would ride me around in the wheeled laundry baskets, which she knew I loved doing! She was such fun to be with because she got as much enjoyment out of it as I did! Even though she was terribly shy, she still gave of herself. I knew she was going to be a wonderful mother someday by the way she treated us littler kids as we were growing up. She always called me Beck, never Becky and that is why I always leave her flowers under the name "Beck." I will forever hold these wonderful memories of her for the rest of my life, and was so glad she was my big sister!
She was born with this incredible, naturally wavy red hair, which everyone just loved and commented on. Everyone in the family called her "Burger Red," which stuck with her into her adulthood. (Some nickname huh?)
She had such patience for anything. When the holidays came, she could be found in the kitchen. She loved to cook, but her expertise was baking. She would make sugar cookies in the shapes of candy canes, Christmas ornaments, or just about anything Christmasy; and she would hand shape them herself.
Kathy was a tireless worker who would have 2-3 jobs at a time so she could give her boys a good life. She was not afraid of hard work at all!
She always gave of herself, putting others first; and because of this she had a desire to become a nurse. She was stationed in Germany with her husband, who was serving in the Army, so the nursing career never came. In 1972 while in Germany she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Daniel, who died at birth.
Kathy had so many things to give, and her life ended way to soon; but the many wonderful memories we have of her, we will carry with us forever. She is now in heaven with her son, Daniel; our father, sister, and grandparents; knowing she is o.k. and not alone anymore. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten!
Kathy was the victim of a drunk driver.
