My aunt Grace was a remarkable woman. She was my fathers sister and the eldest child of a family of 11 born to John Charles and Lydia (Oberg) Williams.

She married James Mitchell Clark on 1 July 1920 in Brisbane, and they in turn became the parents of 11.

Valda (1919-2008); John (1921-1977); Norman (1922-1923); Ronald (1924 - ); Desmond (1925-1982); Francis (1927 - ); Colin (1929-1974); Thomas (1930-1930); Lionel (1930-1930); William (1931-1934); Grace (1934 - ); Kenneth (1938 - ).

Some time after the birth of her last child, she developed a sore on her lip that would not heal. It was diagnosed as cancer and she received a dose of the earliest forms of radium. Unfortunately, an incorrect dose was given, and the cancer continued to spread until nearly the day she died.

She wore prothesis attached to glasses, and these were gradually updated as the need arose, but still she was very cheerful company and very involved in the lives of her children and grand-children.

Aunt Grace passed away in Royal Brisbane Hospital in her 68th year, from Basal cell carcinoma right face extending to the brain. The cancer had attacked her brain two years before she died.
