Daughter of Lieut. General James Longstreet, CSA. Mary Louise Longstreet, b. July 29, 1872 in Flynt, Michigan was the youngest child of General James Longstreet and his wife Mary Louise Garland Longstreet. Maria Louisa Longstreet married Jasper Esten Whelchel (marriage date and location unknown, but probably Hall or Lumpkin County, Georgia). Jasper Esten Whelchel was born in Hall County, Georgia on March 20, 1868 and died on March 22, 1924, also in Hall County. Jasper Esten was the son of Aaron Whelchel (March 10, 1823-May 2, 1880) and Arminda Catherine Dorsey Whelchel (June 24, 1836-July 6, 1919). (Lineage: 1 Francis Sr.; 2 Francis Jr.; 3 John; 4 Aaron; 5 Jasper Esten). Louise and Jasper Eston Whelchel had at least three children: James Longstreet Whelchel, David L. Whelchel and John Elston Whelchel.
