Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Rice Keener; father, Renford Keener of New Caney, TX; mother, Myrtice Owens Keener of Moncks Corner, SC; daughter, Patricia Durden of Moncks Corner, SC; son, Christopher Keener of Summerville, SC; sister, Deborah Lee "Debbie" Garrett of Moncks Corner, SC Brother: Gerald Keener of Moncks Corner, SC; and grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Marcus, Catherine, Angela, and Alexis.

He was predeceased by his step-father, Jack Avant.
