Mrs. Dorothy Stevenson, daughter of D. C. Fisher, of 2230 Victor street, has received the medal of the Order of the Purple Heart, awarded posthumously to her late husband, Wilbur William Stevenson, seaman first class, US Navy, now listed as dead. Stevenson had been listed as missing on the navy rolls since he participated in action in the North Atlantic area in March, 1942. He was 26 years of age.

Seaman Stevenson took up residence in Bellingham in 1939 after serving in the navy from 1934 to 1938. In Bellingham he was employed at the Fisher Flouring Mills, the Pioneer Egg Producers and the Bellingham Furniture Manufacturers. He left the furniture factory to re-enlist in January 1942.

In addition to his widow, who now is residing at Seattle, Seaman Stevenson is survived by a daughter, Diana May, residing with her grandparents here; the parents, Mrs. and Mrs. W. I. Stevenson of Springfield, Mass, and four sisters and a brother living in Springfield.
