He recieved his middle name from his grandfather Floyd B. Adkins, his mother Lola's father. He left Sias, West Virginia to go to Cleveland, Ohio after he gratuated high school in May of 1956 just before he turned 18 years old. It was there that he met his wife Annette Johnson and they married April 12, 1969.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Annette (nee Johnson); son of the late Lola and Roma Whitten. Also loving father of Terri Coyle, Brady R.
