Mary Jane Carson, 81, St. Joseph, Mo., died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at a local health care facility.

Mrs. Carson was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Marshfield, Wisc. She married Thomas Edger Carson, July 23, 1949, who preceded her in death April 15, 2003.

She was a PBX operator for Dannen & Company, Swift & Company, American National Bank, and St. Joseph News-Press. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She belonged to the Runcie Club and Questers Club and was a past president of International PBX Telecommunicators.

Mrs. Carson was also preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Sophia (Fehrenbach) Lang; and her brother, Stanley M. Lang.

Survivors: two brothers, Norman P. Lang and his wife Joan of St. Joseph, and Leo J. Lang and his wife Beverly of Winston, Mo., one sister, Florence J. Scudder-Blanner of St. Peters, Mo., brother-in-law, David Gary Carson and his wife Janice of Atchison, Kan., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Lancaster, Kan. Cemetery. The Family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 1:00 P.M Sunday. Parish Rosary 2:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The Family suggests memorial gifts to the American Kidney Foundation.
