Cecil H. Branch was born 1914 in St. Mary's (Garner) Wake County, NC, the 8th of 11 known surviving children (6 boys/5 girls) born to farmers Atlas M. Branch and his wife, Nora Frances Hinnant.

He was the paternal grandson of Pvt. Newton A. Branch (CSA) and his wife, Lugenia; and the maternal grandson of Capt. Littleberry (a/k/a Little Berry) Hinnant (CSA) and his wife, Kate Chamblee.

Cecil died November 26, 1919, one month shy of his 5th birthday.
