Wife of Bandleader Bob Sheble. Both she and her husband were killed while driving on a straight stretch about 50 miles southeast of Raleigh, North Carolina at 10:45 p.m. on April 6, 1952. They were on a vacation trip headed to Palm Beach, Florida. Her husband was driving the 1951 Chevrolet station wagon and attempted to pass another auto and was struck head-on by a school bus. She was in the front passenger seat and died on internal injuries. The stationwagon was demolished. Another passenger in the car, Jay Raymond Sharp, was in the backseat and survived.

Martha's father William M. Claflin, was born in Nebraska and was deceased at the time of her marriage to Robert Sheble. Her mother was Margaret Pratt, housewife, born in Michigan.

Mrs. Sheble, the former Martha Claflin, attended the Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, and Wellesley College. She was survived by her mother. Mrs. William Mansur Claflin, of 1306 Rutland lane, Wynnewood, and a brother, William.

Martha and her husband were married on June 24, 1949. Reverand Rex Slowers Clements, Bryn Mawr. She was a clerk when she married. Philadelphia marriage license no. 872127.
