Gaylord A. Von Allmen, 60, Lanesville, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at his home.
Born Oct. 9, 1948, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Oscar C. Von Allmen Jr. of New Albany and the late Mary Pat Cottrell Von Allmen.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a machinist and manufacturing associate at Samtec and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville, the Kentucky Herpetological Society, the Louisville Pigeon Club and the Knights of Columbus.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Christian Von Allmen; a brother, Stewart Von Allmen; and a sister, Laurie Von Allmen.
Survivors besides his father include his wife, the former Lettie C. Oelze; two sons, Craig A. Von Allmen of New Albany and Matthew Von Allmen of Lanesville; four daughters, Meg Hiser and Christina Von Allmen, both of Lanesville, Anna Cooper of New Middletown and Tina Mahserejian of Philadelphia; a brother, Chris Von Allmen of Asheville, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 1, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Officiants: Fathers Harold Ripperger and John Curran and the Rev. John Helm.
The family suggests memorial gifts to his church or Vistacare Hospice.
