Della Pearl McGlaun was born on 19 September 1885 in Texas to farmer James Edmund McGlaun and his wife, Laura Emma Thweatt. The Storm of 1900 forced the McGlaun family from Lavaca County to Guffey, Texas (the boomtown later known as Spindletop). Della and her sisters met their husbands there where the family ran a boarding house. She married Otho Oscar Baker, 15 March 1905, at the Methodist Church in Guffey. Their children were Beatrice and James Baker. Otho and Della were divorced during the Great Depression. Della McGlaun Baker died, 12 November 1958, aged 73, in Beaumont, Texas, and was buried in the Baker family plot at Magnolia Cemetery.
