Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker most of her life, but for a short period she was a Bell Telephone operator while her husband served the U.S. Army during WW II. She was a graduate of East Lampeter High School. After her husband graduated from seminary she accompanied him to the mission fields of Bangladesh and Haiti for many years. She was a member of the First Church of God of Lancaster, and served as a former president of the WCSC, and also was a member of the Farm Women's Society of Lancaster County. Dorothy was known for her cooking skills and collected cookbooks.
