She received a degree in accounting from Atlanta Business College, and later attended Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas.
She married Barney Wiezorek, who preceded her in death. She married Max Garrett, June 11, 1974, at Athens, Georgia. They owned and operated the Trails Mobile Home Park, South of Topeka for many years until closing it in 2001.
Fran also worked as a Job Placement Officer, for the Department of Labor Services, at Topeka for several years. Max passed away February 2, 2003.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter Nicole Vicki D'Amatto, who passed away October 24, 2009.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Eddie Wiezorek, Cumming, GA, Charles D. Wiezorek, Topeka, KS, and Larry L. Wiezorek, Overbrook, KS; two step-daughters, Gail Lynn Freeman, MO, and Pamela Jo Young, IA; two brothers, Randy Longino, Barnard, KS, and Billy Longino, Milledgeville, GA; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church, Wakarusa, Kansas. Burial will follow in Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa, Kansas. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , and sent c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box 196, Burlingame, KS 66413.
